Who we are
Book and Read LLC is a Wyoming limited liability company. Our principal office is located at 1021 E Lincolnway Suite 9468, Cheyenne, WY 82001, USA. For privacy-related questions, contact us at (307) 289-2080 or info@bookandread.org.
Scope
This policy applies to information collected through our website (including forms), phone and email communications with us, and related online interactions. If you purchase products through a third-party payment processor, that provider may collect additional information under its own policies.
If you enroll in our Weekend Zoom recipe classes, we also handle information needed to manage your membership and send class communications. Zoom (Zoom Video Communications, Inc. or affiliates) processes additional data when you join or use Zoom meetings; Zoom’s privacy notice applies to that processing.
Information we may collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Contact information: such as your name, phone number, and email address when you call, email us, or submit a contact form.
- Zoom classes–related information: such as your interest in Weekend Zoom classes, enrollment status, billing or payment details for membership (processed by us or payment providers we use), and emails or messages about schedules, links, or class changes.
- Purchase-related information: such as order identifiers, transaction status, and customer service correspondence. Payment card details are typically collected directly by payment processors, not stored by us unless we explicitly state otherwise in a separate notice.
- Technical data: such as IP address, browser type, device type, general location derived from IP (for example, country or region), pages viewed, and timestamps.
- Cookies and similar technologies: small files or identifiers used for site functionality, preferences, and analytics. See our Cookie Policy for details.
How we use information
We use personal information for purposes such as:
- Providing our website and products, including processing orders, shipping our cookbook, running Weekend Zoom recipe classes, and customer support
- Processing transactions and communicating about your order
- Responding to inquiries and resolving disputes
- Improving site performance, security, and usability
- Measuring traffic and understanding how visitors use our pages (where analytics tools are enabled)
- Complying with legal obligations and protecting our rights
We do not sell your personal information for money. If we use certain advertising or analytics partners, those relationships are described below and in our Cookie Policy where applicable.
Legal bases (for visitors who request GDPR-style transparency)
If applicable data protection laws require a “legal basis” for processing, we may rely on one or more of the following: performance of a contract, legitimate interests (such as securing our website and understanding aggregate usage), consent (where required), or legal obligations.
Sharing of information
We may share information with:
- Service providers that help us host the website, send email, process payments, provide analytics, or prevent fraud—subject to contractual safeguards where appropriate
- Zoom when you join our live classes using Zoom’s platform (audio, video, and related technical data are processed under Zoom’s policies in addition to ours)
- Professional advisers when necessary (for example, accountants or attorneys)
- Authorities when required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our users or the public
We may also share information in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
International transfers
Our business is based in the United States. If you access our site from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection rules than your home country.
Retention
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (for example, tax or accounting requirements).
Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your personal information, or to object to certain processing. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise rights that may apply to you, contact us at (307) 289-2080 or info@bookandread.org. We may need to verify your request before responding.
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under applicable state privacy laws, including the right to know categories of personal information collected, the right to request deletion subject to exceptions, and the right to opt out of certain “sales” or “sharing” as those terms are defined by law. We do not knowingly sell personal information of minors under 16.
Canadian residents
If you are in Canada, our handling of your personal information may be subject to Canadian privacy laws, including the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and applicable provincial statutes where they apply. Depending on your province and situation, you may have rights to access or correct your information, withdraw consent where applicable, or complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or a provincial privacy commissioner or ombudsman. To exercise rights with us directly, contact us using the information in the Contact section below.
If we send commercial electronic messages (such as marketing email) to addresses in Canada, we do so in line with Canada’s anti-spam legislation where it applies, including identifying the sender and providing a way to withdraw consent or unsubscribe when required.
Children’s privacy
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Third-party links
Our website may link to third-party sites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to read their policies before providing information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice where appropriate.
